A seemingly unremarkable woman approaches the table with jewellery. She looks with curiosity, but doesn't have the courage to pick up the earrings. Then she comes in - Elua.
And magic happens.
The woman stands in front of the mirror, raises her hands holding the earrings to her ears and shyly looks at her reflection. She needs some encouragement to decorate her ears with them. Unaware that she is being surreptitiously watched by her husband, she looks at her reflection again and... becomes slimmer. Her neck lengthens and her whole body suddenly seems more majestic. The chest moves forward, the shoulders move back, and the chin lifts slightly. And the hair... as if the woman was just discovering their presence, she removes the hair band and spreads it on her shoulders and back.
This is what happens to everyone who wears earrings from Elua for the first, second, fifth, hundredth time…
Meanwhile, our heroine puts the earrings on the hanger and into her dream sphere, because her inner critic is triggered in her head: They're not for you, they attract too much attention. Besides, they're too expensive, you can't afford the frills."
SY: Indeed... Your earrings cost as much as a good quality pair of trousers or a blouse. How many people can afford them and what is the reason for this price?
Elua: Earrings are made from hundreds, and bracelets even from thousands, of tiny, 1.5-2 mm glass beads. Making jewellery requires patience, precision, time and an idea. Currently, I have almost 7 years of experience. Over 6 years of implementing my ideas, talking to clients, looking for the best solutions.
I make my earrings from the best material on the market, which I carefully selected considering what I want these earrings to be. I decided on tiny glass beads made in Japan. They are extremely light and even though I use several hundred beads to make hanging earrings, the jewellery remains light and comfortable to wear even all day long. This all adds up to the price of my products.
SY: What preferences do your clients have? What do they pay attention to?
Elua: Customers who come to handicraft fairs often expect to find something different, something original. And I personally don't want to duplicate something that is already available. I can sew earrings similar to those commonly available, but I always go in a slightly different direction - if someone is looking for something like that, they will find it here.
My clients usually know what they want. However, there is also a large group of people who expect me to propose something special, created exclusively for them.
I strive for harmony and order. Even though I like women - colourful birds, I try to maintain moderation in the forms and colours of jewellery. For example, I admire ethnic aesthetics, but it is not my aesthetic. Probably you won't find such jewellery here.
SY: Do you see trends changing?
Elua: Yes. Mostly in colours, a little in the forms of earrings. Of course, I follow trends and try to follow them, but the most important thing is that the jewellery fits the woman, creates a whole with her, and does not overwhelm her.
It's good if the jewellery has a modern feel, and not necessarily "grandmotherly". My products certainly stand out on the jewellery market. Their originality is determined by the women for whom I make them: brave and knowing themselves. Exactly the same as Second You clients.
SY: Precisely. Where did the idea for earrings for yogis come from?
Elua: First of all, jewellery should match our style and what we wear every day. Aneta noticed the potential for girls who buy clothes from her to have the opportunity to replenish them and wear these sets on the street. My task was to make the jewellery to complement the clothes. The search for colours began to match this particular pair of leggings with a top, as they were intended for this particular set. In total, several dozen models were created, of which we chose eight. Authentic sets were created!
I sewed these earrings with the leggings in front of me... matching the colours, their gradation and shapes. It was the whole process. And a very interesting challenge.
I associate yoga with complete harmony, peace and beauty and this is what I wanted to achieve as the end result. In addition, there is an upright posture and femininity. I wanted to include all this in the entire collection.
SY: Will the earrings that Second You customers will buy be exactly the same as those in the photos?
Elua: Yes. The collection created for Aneta has been described in detail by me so that each buyer can be sure that what she is buying is what she sees in the photo. You can be 100% sure that it will be exactly what is in the picture.
SY: What else sets your jewellery apart?
Elua: The advantage of this jewellery is its virtually no weight. Even though the longest ones are several centimetres long, you can wear them all day long and your ears won't be burdened. Additionally, to ensure that the earrings are safe for users, I use surgical steel studs. Earrings created for Second You, although shimmer with colours, remain subtle and elegant. They have something about them that defines femininity.
SY: And was there a happy ending with the woman from the introduction in the main role?
Elua: Oh, yes! (a mysterious smile appears on Ela's face). As I have already mentioned, the woman's husband observed the entire situation together with me. He knew exactly what had happened to his wife. And although they both left the stand at the time, he returned at the right moment and made her dream come true.
I'm sure it was a beautiful surprise for the woman of his life. I wish every woman to bloom as beautifully every day as that woman bloomed in front of my mirror.
Thank you very much for the inspiring conversation. We wish you a lot of successes, further development and many happy customers, and may the streets be filled with women wearing your jewellery.
